Keyboard & Mouse problems

Keyboard Problems
The keyboard is not responding at all.

1. Check the connection of the keyboard cable in the back of the computer and make sure it is tightly plugged in. If not, plug it in.
2.Once you are sure that the keyboard is properly plugged into the back of the computer, power off the computer and then restart it.
The letters appearing on the screen do not match the ones being typed.

This type of problem can happen on programmable key boards. These types of keyboards should have a Macro key and Suspend Macro key on the upper left corner of the keyboard. Hold down the CTRL key, the Alt key, and the Suspend Macro key all at the same time. This will clear any macros that have been programmed into the key board.

Mouse problems (Optical)

If you are using an optical mouse (a mouse that uses a red light emitting diode on the bottom to track movements instead of a roller ball) and you find the mouse pointer tends to jump around the screen on occasion or just doesn’t work at all on some desks, there is a very good explanation for this behaviour.

An optical mouse requires a working surface that can easily reflect the light from the diode back up to the sensor in the mouse. You are no longer restricted to using a classic mouse-pad, but you do have to be careful with what surface you use the mouse on. If you are using a glass surface under the mouse, the light will quite often pass through the surface and never make it back to the mouse. If the surface has a very shiny refractive pattern, then this can also cause some issues.

The best solution to any optical mouse problem is to try out a few different surface materials. If you think your mouse-pad is causing the issue, try putting a few sheets of paper or a folder under the mouse and see if that clears things up for you.
